Juan Guillermo Aguirre Mandiola, better known as Captain Memo, is a Chilean singer-songwriter and musician born in Santiago on December 22, 1952. He began his career in the circuit of bars and nightclubs in San Francisco, and in the mid-1970s, he was hired by the Sound Connection Studios company in Miami, Florida. Aguirre became popular in Hispano-America and Spain in the 1980s thanks to his participation in several animated series broadcast in Latin America, such as "Ángel, la niña de las flores"; "Captain Future"; "El Galáctico"; "El Gladiador"; "Fábulas del Bosque Verde"; "Festival de los Robots"; "El Hombre Araña"; "La pequeña Lulú"; "Los cuatro fantásticos"; "Mujer Araña"; "Sport Billy"; "El Rey Arturo"; and "Ulises 31," among others. He also contributed to the composition of many of these themes, including "La Abeja Maya," collaborating with Israeli Shuki Levy and fellow Chilean Erich Bulling. In addition to creating songs for animated children's series, Aguirre also composed jingles and musical cues for famous shows like "Dallas" and "Dynasty," and collaborated on albums with American singers like Kenny Rogers.
