Playroots is the project of Chilean producer, multi-instrumentalist and DJ Aníbal Valenzuela. His sound blends handpan, balafón, kalimba, djembe and world-influenced percussion with atmospheric electronic layers, navigating between downtempo, dub and organic house with a warm, immersive character shaped by global musical influences and years of instrumental exploration. He has released music through labels such as New Latam Beats, Café de Anatolia and Ritmos del Sur, developing a catalog where organic instruments and electronic production coexist fluidly. His debut EP Paye introduced this hybrid language, followed by singles like El Poder en Mí and Sabor de Jungla—featured on This Is Folktronica. His new EP Soltar y Confiar (Ritmos del Sur) expands this palette through collaborations, remixes and featured artists, bringing new rhythmic and melodic perspectives into his evolving sound. Over the last three years he has toured extensively across Europe, performing at festivals such as Fusion (Germany), Ozora (Hungary) and Mera World Music (Romania), and at venues including Beachouse and BOHO (Ibiza), Casa Reia (Lisbon), Bonjuk Bay (Turkey), Ritmo Nativo (Barcelona) and Zazala (Greece). These experiences continue to shape both his studio work and his performance approach. On stage, his live act and DJ sets expand the sonic world of his productions, merging instruments, loops and electronic grooves into immersive journeys that reflect his organic-electronic identity. I
